Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.

I have this gorgeous print in my home office that reads 'Create a life you love'. It's stationed right next to my desk where it's easily visible and never fails to provided me with a boost of inspiration. I think of my goals, my vision, and all the things I plan on doing and seeing and I'm motivated to continue with the work I'm doing today to one day have those adventures. But as you know, it's not easy to stay motivated and inspired to continue doing the work that's necessary in order to transform an ordinary life into something truly extraordinary.

Getting where we need to go is not easy, but you and I both know it's worthwhile. I think of King Solomon's goal of building a place of rest for the Lord. God chose Solomon for this exact task.  When his father, David, relayed God's message to his son he made sure to impart these words "...acknowledge God...serve Him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. Be strong and do the work." It's those final words that have remained in my heart over the past few weeks. Be strong and do the work.

Our strength is found when we seek God wholeheartedly. It is His strength that will fortify us to do the work. Solomon was young and inexperienced when he was given this great task. But he wasn't building something for himself, but a palatial structure for the Lord. This is the point where I ask myself what am I creating? What is it that I hope to do and why am I doing so? What are your intentions? Solomon's only intention was to build a place of rest worthy of God. He wanted to be of use to the Lord. When God told Solomon to ask for whatever he wanted, Solomon prayed for wisdom to discern God's will from his will. Solomon understood that he did not have all the answers to carry out his purpose, so he prayed to God to help him carry out his vision. God gave Solomon a wise and discerning heart that enabled him to transform his ordinary life into something extraordinary.

Today let our prayers be like Solomon's for wisdom and strength to do the work we are called to do. Make your plans, pray, and with bold strength do the work.

With Love,

Marie
