What I'm Doing in September

I'm just as surprised as you that we're in September! But I'm not complaining. I'm ready for some semblance of cooler weather. Living in Miami I won't get much of the best of the fall season, but still I want to spend a few days, possibly a couple weeks in a sweater, pretending the leaves are falling. After all, Fall is my favorite season. I feel like everything and everyone just moves slower, smoother, and nicer. And there are some thing that are just better in the fall season and here are a few things I'm looking forward to the most in September.

Thoughts & Questions about the Bible

So I'm doing one of those Bible in a year plans, this is officially my second try at it. I tried back in 2014 and got to around 84-86% then I got to the book of Ezekiel and just…I don't even know… I just didn't get anything he wrote. But that was four years ago, so hopefully things have changed. They have.  I feel confident in saying that I'm going to read the entire Bible from cover to cover. Just not in a year though. I started in May and I finally made it to Deuteronomy this week.

10 Things I'm Happy About

I've been practicing daily gratitude consistently for the past two years. And everything you've read about the power of gratitude is real. I can attest to this. As I've shared in the previous posts, this is a challenge season for my family and I. But there's always lessons to learn in the midst of storms. Reflecting on this has been sort of a therapy for me in many ways. So has keeping and looking back on my gratitude list. And today I thought I'd share some things that have brought me joy this past week.

A Spring in the Wilderness

There are moments, brief, sometimes prolong, that shape us and our legacy for eternity. This may be my moment. Life is surely dealing with me harshly. Almost all I touch seems to decay. Many days I just want to flee from all the burden and feelings of acute disappointment.

But everyday I get up and give birth to the life God's place inside of me. Why? Better yet, how? For each of us it's different. For me, it's this.
